Mark Bagley was born on August 7,1957 in Frankfurt, West Germany. He attended the Ringling College of Art and Design, and worked for Lockheed Martin making technical drawings. In 1983, Marvel Comics held a contest to draw in new talent to the comic book industry. Bagly took first place in the contest which launched his comic book career. He eventually did the penciling for Amazing Spider-Man comics. Comic Book Resources ranked Bagley fourth on its list of the "50 Greatest Spider-Man Creators."
